Grade 4 Islam The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): The Beloved Messenger of Islam Question GCE O/L

Title: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): The Beloved Messenger of Islam

Islam is a religion that was founded in the 7th century by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who is considered the last and final prophet of Allah (God) in a long line of prophets that includes Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all). Muhammad, often referred to as the "Seal of the Prophets," is highly revered by Muslims worldwide as the final and most beloved prophet who brought the message of Islam to humanity.

Prophethood in Islam

In Islam, a prophet is a chosen individual who is selected by Allah to convey His message to humanity. Prophets are believed to be human beings who have been granted special guidance and revelation from Allah through the Angel Gabriel. They are appointed to guide people towards the right path, promote righteousness, and establish justice in society. Prophets are also known for their exemplary character and conduct, serving as role models for their communities.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Mecca, in present-day Saudi Arabia, in the year 570 CE. He grew up as an orphan and worked as a merchant before receiving his first revelation from Allah at the age of 40. This event marked the beginning of his prophethood and the start of his mission to spread the message of Islam.

Muhammad preached the message of monotheism, emphasizing the oneness of God and calling people to worship Him alone, without associating any partners with Him. He also promoted moral virtues such as honesty, compassion, generosity, and justice, and urged people to uphold social and ethical values in their daily lives.

Muhammad faced numerous challenges and opposition during his prophetic mission, but he remained steadfast in his faith and dedication to Allah. He endured persecution, boycotts, and even attempts on his life, but he never wavered in his commitment to spreading the message of Islam.

His exemplary character and conduct won him the hearts of his followers, who came to love him deeply and affectionately referred to him as "Rasulullah" or "Messenger of Allah." His kindness, humility, and wisdom earned him the title of "Al-Amin," meaning "the trustworthy," even among those who did not embrace Islam.

Muhammad's Prophetic Legacy

Muhammad's prophetic mission lasted for 23 years, during which he successfully propagated the message of Islam and established a community of believers who embraced the faith. He received the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as a divine revelation, which serves as the primary source of guidance for Muslims to this day.

In addition to the Quran, Muhammad's teachings and actions, known as the Sunnah, are also considered a significant part of his prophetic legacy. The Sunnah includes his sayings, actions, and tacit approvals, which provide practical guidance on how to live a righteous and virtuous life according to Islamic principles.

Muhammad's impact on society was profound and far-reaching. He transformed the lives of people, bringing them out of darkness and ignorance and guiding them towards the path of righteousness and enlightenment. His teachings laid the foundation for a just and compassionate society, promoting the values of equality, social justice, and tolerance.

Muhammad's Prophethood in the Quran

The Quran speaks highly of Muhammad's prophethood, describing him as a mercy to humanity and a role model for believers. The Quran states that Muhammad was sent as a mercy to all the worlds and as a witness, a bearer of good tidings, a warner, and a caller to Allah. The Quran also highlights
